Case Study Details
The Project
Gallant was engaged to decontaminate a Wahroonga residence after mould growth spread through the home and elevated spore levels were detected in the internal air. Scope was set from an independent hazardous materials report commissioned by the client.
The Scope
A supervisor and two operatives delivered a three day programme, isolating the affected rooms and detergent wiping every non-porous surface across the kitchen, lounge, bedrooms, bathroom, laundry, entry and window sills, including areas previously cleaned by others. Soft furnishings were HEPA vacuumed, contaminated linen was bagged for specialist laundering or disposal and itemised for the owner’s insurer. Flexible ductwork drawing spore laden air from the subfloor return air system was removed and disposed of.
The Precaution Measures
Works followed the IICRC S520 Standard for Professional Mould Remediation, using Class H HEPA vacuum equipment throughout, with all contaminated waste packaged, labelled and disposed of at a licensed facility.
The Outcome
The property was handed back to the client’s occupational hygienist for post-remediation air monitoring and clearance verification, with the contaminated ductwork removed so the subfloor was no longer feeding spores back into the living areas.
