Class A & Class B Asbestos Removal Central Coast
Safe, licensed asbestos testing, removal, and remediation services
Despite asbestos being banned in Australia on 31 December 2003, the widespread use of asbestos materials through the second half of the 20th century means the effects are still being felt today.
Asbestos was used so extensively by the Australian construction industry during that period that it remains present in many homes, townhouses, and apartments across the Central Coast. Because much of the region’s construction took place when asbestos use was at its peak, a large share of those properties still contains asbestos materials.
If you’re renovating or demolishing a property in or around the Central Coast, there’s a very good chance asbestos is present in some capacity. It may be in your walls, plumbing, flooring, ceilings, or just about anywhere else in the house.
Gallant Contracting is a local, family owned and operated asbestos removal, testing, and remediation provider on the New South Wales Central Coast. Our team is backed by more than a decade of experience and holds both Class A (friable) and Class B (non-friable) asbestos licences.
If you suspect asbestos may be present in your property, don’t take the risk. Call Gallant Contracting today to arrange an onsite inspection and asbestos testing before you begin any demolition or construction work.
WHO WE WORK WITH
Gallant Contracting works with commercial, industrial, and residential clients across the Central Coast, providing Class A and Class B asbestos testing, removal, and remediation services.
Commercial
Industrial
Large-scale factories, warehouses, and development projects around the Central Coast.
Residential
Helping Central Coast locals navigate the risk of asbestos
Unlike other building materials, asbestos has no distinct smell or appearance, which makes it almost impossible to identify by inspection alone.
Left undisturbed, asbestos may not pose a risk. Once you begin demolition, renovation, or construction work, however, it can become disturbed and friable, presenting significant risks to anyone in or around your property.
Because asbestos was so widely used in Australian construction during the Central Coast’s housing boom, many properties across the region contain it in some capacity. It could be in your ceilings, tiles, cladding, or the insulation used on your home.
Without proper inspection and asbestos testing, there’s no safe way of knowing whether you’re dealing with asbestos or something completely benign.
If you plan on renovating or making substantial changes to a Central Coast property built during the 20th century, it’s worth exercising a good amount of caution. Before you begin any works, call Gallant Contracting. Our team can attend your property, take a sample of any suspect material, and give you a definitive answer so you know exactly what you’re dealing with.
Don’t risk it. Make the smart choice and call Gallant Contracting today.
Our Case Studies
Asbestos Removal | Friable Removal on an Active Demolition Site, Cowra
Case Study Details
The Project
Gallant was engaged as licensed asbestos removalist on the demolition of the former Cowra hospital in the NSW Central West. Works ran across a twelve week programme on an active demolition site, with hazardous materials to be stripped out ahead of the demolition front on a programme that could not slip.
The Scope
Friable asbestos pipe lagging was stripped from ceilings and service risers throughout the decommissioned buildings, with every ceiling void treated as contaminated and enclosed accordingly. Licensed asbestos removal supervisors and removalists were held on site for the full duration of the programme, working in sequence with the demolition contractor so that each structure was released hazmat free before machines moved in. The engagement was later extended by variation to include lead paint removal to the western stairwell. With Cowra five hours from Gallant’s Sydney base, crews were mobilised with accommodation for the entire programme rather than commuting to a regional job.
The Precaution Measures
All works were carried out under Gallant’s NSW Class A friable asbestos removal licence (AD214704) and ISO 45001 certified safety management system. Daily records and site documentation were submitted for the principal contractor’s approval, independent clearance was obtained before each area was released to the demolition contractor, and all asbestos waste was disposed of through licensed facilities with full tracking. Exclusion zones and access controls were coordinated daily with the principal contractor to keep removal crews and demolition plant separated on a live site.
The Outcome
Twelve weeks delivered without delay to the head contractor’s works. Buildings were cleared and certified progressively, each one released hazmat free and ready to demolish, so the demolition front never stopped waiting on hazmat clearance.
